Did summer fly by for anyone else? It’s hard to believe it’s almost harvest time at Kings Landing, but we are so excited for this time of year! The hearths will be decorated with beautiful harvest trimmings, Abraham Munn will be perfecting his songs for the country dances, the blacksmith will be putting the final touches on his ironware for the auction and every single home will be pickling and preparing heirloom vegetables for the winter!
Kings Landing is gorgeous year-round, but there’s something magical about the fall. It’s a treat for all the senses: the smell and feel of the warm, cozy fires in the historic homes, the taste of the delicious warm apple cider from the King’s Head Inn, the sound of the farmers working in the gardens, and the sight of the changing leaves throughout the site. It’s the perfect mixture of fall fun and relaxation!
What’s also great about this time of year (September specifically) is our Pass to the Past promotion. Until September 30, you can visit your local New Brunswick public library to check out a free pass for a visit to Kings Landing! Cool, right?! Click here for more details.
You’re not going to want to miss the Thanksgiving Harvest Celebrations on October 5, 6, 12, 13 & 14. Hop on a wagon, join in the country dance, fire a Brown Bess musket, and compete in lumbering competitions! There are lots of activities during these two weekends, so get the gang together for some good old-fashioned fun!
To some visitors, the end of the season means one thing: AUCTION TIME! All season-long villagers have been growing vegetables and crafting benches, housewares, toys and more for the Annual Thanksgiving Auction. Join us on Sunday, October 13 at 2 p.m. just outside of the King’s Head Inn and place your bids in this one-of-a-kind auction.
This fall at Kings Landing, visitors can also enjoy live music at the Summer Stage, awesome programming at the Heritage Gallery, dressing up in 19th-century costumes, treats at the Axe & Plough Café, wagon rides, friendly farm animals, and much more! To see the full schedule of events, click here.
As you can see, there’s a lot going on at Kings Landing before the season ends on Thanksgiving Monday! So, pack up your camera, bring your sense of adventure and be sure to make it over for a visit this fall. We can’t wait to share in the harvest with you!
