Can you believe it? It’s almost harvest time at Kings Landing! As a beautiful summer begins to wind down, the villagers are eager to reap the rewards of many a day spent toiling in the field. Soon the community will be all a bustle with preparations for the annual Thanksgiving celebrations – most notably the Agricultural Fair. The Morehouse ladies will be busy perfecting their famous pie recipes in hopes of 1st prize at the fair, Abraham Munn will be learning new songs for the country dance, the blacksmith will be putting the final touches on his ironware for the auction, and every single home will be picking and preparing heirloom vegetables for the upcoming feasts!
Kings Landing in the fall is magic. Sure, as a content specialist here, I may be biased, but no yoga class or Netflix binge session is as relaxing as Kings Landing under the canopy of autumn leaves. So, put down that pumpkin spiced latte, and come celebrate the end of the harvest with us!
You’re not going to want to miss Agricultural Fair (Sept 29-30 and Oct 6-8). Hop on a hayride, join in the country dance, fire a Brown Bess musket, and compete in tug-of-war! Young and not-so-young alike will enjoy a venture through the corn maze, fair games, 19th-century dress-up, and much more! To see the full schedule of events, click here.
All season-long villagers have been growing vegetables and crafting benches, housewares, toys and more for the annual Thanksgiving auction. Join us on Sunday, October 7 at 2:00 p.m. and place your bids in this one-of-a-kind auction. Can’t make it Sunday? During both Agricultural Fair weekends, local farmers and artisans will be set up at The Pavillion to sell their unique items.
If all this talk of harvest has you craving farm-fresh ingredients and time-honoured recipes, you’re in luck. Gather your friends and family, and join us for an unforgettable dining experience during our Agricultural Fair weekends. Make your reservations now for the Harvest Home Long-table Feast and receive complimentary day passes to Kings Landing for the date of your reservation.
**Update as of Sept. 17: Reservations are now full for the Harvest Home Long-table Feast. Christmas Dinner reservations will open October 1.
During Harvest Home, we’ll be celebrating the bounty of the harvest together with music, toasts, and an abundance of seasonal food! The menu is an authentic, family-style meal from 1867. I’m talking platters of roast pheasant, venison, turkey, beef, meat pie, seasonal vegetables, brown bread, custards and more! I may or may not be drooling after writing that list out.
As you can see there is a lot going on at Kings Landing before the season ends on Thanksgiving Monday! So, pack up your camera, bring your appetite and be sure to make it over for a visit this fall. We can’t wait to share in the harvest with you!
