Can We Get an MMM for Maple Season?

The sweetest time of the year is here and no matter where you are in the province, you’re always close to tapping into some maplelicious goodness.

Published March 2019

The arrival of frosty nights and sunny days can only mean one thing – Maple Season is finally here!

As the world-renowned (and über-yummy) maple syrup starts to flow, it’s time to head out and tap into that most New Brunswick of traditions – visiting a sugar camp to see sap transform into syrup and seeing how that same syrup is transformed into a delicious maple craft beverage at a participating craft alcohol tasting experience location.

That’s right - the best of maple is closer than you think.

Your Must-Have Maple Moments

1. Hit a Sugaring-Off Party

The sugar camp, that’s where it’s at for the spring party of the year. With demonstrations, sugar camp tours, wagon rides, bonfires with maple s’mores, and breakfasts galore – this is the sweetest way to celebrate the transformation of sap into maple syrup, taffy, and sugar.

2. Enjoy a Maple Craft Beverage

All over New Brunswick, the taps will be flowing with maple craft beverages you just have to try. So pull up a barstool at a participating craft alcohol tasting experience location to taste their take on maple.

3. Twirl Up Some Taffy

Maple taffy is a tradition not to be missed. Fresh, hot maple syrup is poured onto snow. Then it’s your turn to stop, drop, and roll your popsicle stick to make your own sticky treat.

4. Dig In to Some Breakfast

Stacks of fluffy pancakes drenched in fresh maple syrup. Wood-fired baked beans. Bacon, sausages, biscuits... Is your mouth watering yet? Then make sure to head out to one of the many maple breakfasts happening across the province, like the Maple Sugar Brunch event on Sunday, April 7 at the Sugarloaf Provincial Park Lodge.

5. Witness the Running of the Sap

Less dangerous than the running of the bulls and 100x sweeter, witnessing the running of the sap is a sure sign spring has arrived. Plus, you get to see your syrup come right from the source.

6. Snowshoe Through a Sugar Camp

Many sugar camps are located in gorgeous locations so you’ll definitely want to strap on some snowshoes and go on an adventure through the maple trees (plus, you can put all that sugar energy to good use!).

However you choose to indulge, Maple Season is here! So check out all the sweet experiences that are happening close to you and all around the province.
