About Your Host
Mylène Comeau is an Acadian step dancer in New Brunswick. Mylène says that growing up in a small Acadian community, you either played hockey or you step danced – she started dancing at the age of 7 and quickly became one of the youngest dancers in La Baie en Joie, an internationally renowned Acadian step dance troupe who honour their native Acadie through colourful performances. Since then, she has performed in over 200 different shows and festivals.
What We’ll Do
Think you’ve got rhythm? Do you know which musical instruments are played and which steps are danced in Acadie? We’ll play the spoons, learn traditional Acadian step dancing, and discover the sources of inspiration for this joyful, fun-loving culture together in an afternoon of celebration. Leave with your own pair of Acadian musical spoons and start your own Acadian traditions at home.
Where We’ll Be
Moncton is the largest city in New Brunswick and is located in the southeast region of the province. With plenty to see and do in the area, it’s the perfect spot to experience Acadian culture in an urban setting. We’re finalizing the venue for the 2018 travel season and can’t wait to welcome you.
